Throttled again…

Need to do something drastic with my internet plan…. have cable, and I love it.  It seems plenty fast enough (if there is such a thing) and only plays up about once a year – normally when we’ve done something stupid. 🙂   But… I hate the ridiculously small download limit.  Only 10GB  😐 … and when we go over that… we get shaped to a speed that would make a Galapagos Island turtle proud!  

But you know , the best laid plans of mice and men are  gang aft aglay… and we seem to bust the tower every month without fail… even when trying to be careful.  Mind you I’ve never blown it as bad as some of the people I’ve spoken to at work… had a few callers that’ve gone and chewed through their 12GB ADSL limits in about 5 days flat, and then got stuck on dial up speeds for the next 3.5 weeks!  No, never done it quite that bad… thank God.  But I usually seem to have at least a day or two towards the end of the month where we’re shaped for being naughty.

Need to find a better plan Stan!  Was thinking about switching to ADSL, but after what I’ve seen at work, it seems like a nasty unreliable sort of beastie half of the time… would much rather stick with my cable… if only it weren’t so ridiculously expensive to ugrade to a decent DL limit!   :S

Oh… Ein minuten bitte!  It seems to be back up to speed!  Yay!

I’ve thrown all my sleep patterns out the window I think.  I’ve never been one to sleep really well, and lately I seem to be all over the place.  Maybe its the shift work, though in truth I’ve been pretty lucky with my rosters so far, and it doesn’t really feel like I’ve been doing odd shifts at all…. the only problem is, I just can’t sleep in! So if i finish work at 11pm, I don’t end up getting to sleep until 1am…. and then for reasons that totally defy logic, I wake up at 6am regardless.  Which is okay for a night or two, but its becoming far too much of a habit.    I’m feeling really tired at work in the middle of the afternoon, and had to resort to V a few times last week to wake me up a bit (hate the way that stuff makes me feel…)   And the worst thing about being overtired, is that it just makes it so much more difficult to manage the back pain.  I mean the stupid back hurts all day everyday, but when I’m tired…. oh, so much harder to ignore.  😐

Is it too late for a New Years resolution?  Must start going to bed at a reasonable hour!  Must stop staying up all night chatting with strange men on the MSN!  Must learn to regularly sleep in past half six!!!

Turkey Explosion

I totally dont want to hear about tourist destinations in Turkey being blown up thanks!  Accidental or otherwise, it just aint appealing  😐
It’s like the year I was going to go skydiving for my 17 birthday, and in some strange coincidence, three people died in separate sky diving incidents over the summer leading up to my birthday… weird how that happens….

One killed in Turkey hotel blast

One person has died in an explosion at a hotel in a Turkish holiday resort.

At least 10 others – including tourists and hotel staff – were injured in the blast in the coastal town of Belek.

Police said a liquid petroleum gas tank exploded in the kitchen of the five-star Kaya Hotel in the southern Antalya region.

The dead man was a member of staff at the hotel, Turkish media said. Tourists from Russia and Norway were among those injured, according to police.

Ambulances and firefighters rushed to the scene and evacuated the hotel, Turkish TV said.

Television pictures showed shattered windows at the hotel.

Russian media said two tourists from their country had been hurt.

Doctors have so far not released any details of their condition.

Police said the explosion, which happened at about 0630 (0430 GMT), may have been caused by hotel workers trying to refill the gas tank.

Angel Baby

I was driving to the supermarket this afternoon, and whilst I was a bit tired and not really relishing the prospect of dragging the small child around to pick up the groceries, we were bopping along in the car listening to the Cat Empire and all seemed to be tolerably good with the world…..  When from who knows where… Angel pipes up from the back seat with “Mom, when are you going to have a new baby?”  😐

Smack a girl upside the head why don’t you?!??!  Where the hell did that come from???

He has blind sided me before on this topic, but never quite so out of the blue as this one was.  I mean, there’s been no mention of any such thing around here for years… almost literally… years.   I know that in the past he seemed to have picked up on all the horrible baby and IVF stuff.. and I can only assume that happened by osmosis or something, as we’ve never had a direct conversation with him about it all.  It constantly amazes me that for a little guy he doesn’t seem to forget much.  Things can go unmentioned for months on end and then suddenly, like today with no apparent provocation, he innocently asks a question or makes a comment that is about as loaded and unexpected as humanly possible.

Honestly, I have no idea how the little guy’s mind works… and I have no idea why he suddenly came out with this….. but I do know…. it bought me down like a tonne of bricks.
