charlibus sitibus on the deskinorum…

Here’s a cute one from Dave at Blogography who says there’s a ‘thing’ out there challenging people to photograph their desks and put it out there for public scrutiny.  I don’t think I’d be game enough to participate, but after seeing his desk… I feel positively anal retentive and therefore more willing to share mine 🙂  So here goes:

Ridiculously expensive graphics tablet that I dont need but totally love
Photo taken in 1982 of me and my sisters in primary school
Blue globe crystal paperweight purchased in Prague in 1995
List of potential naughty domain names for Yale
Vibrating rubber ducky present from the Humbibble last birthday
Inevitable nail polishes that seem to cluster about the house
Ticket stubs from Pavarotti Farewell Tour from Nov 2005
Left over useless Pakistani money from last June
Oakely Frogskins that have followed me around the world
Tease – Beat of the Burlesque CD I bought from Amazon two weeks ago
Ridiculously expensive neg scanner for neglected slide scanning project
Bad Taste Bear eating Tequila worm from TQ party 2006
Lipbalm No 42 -also in my car, key bowl, bedside table, skipping girl bags
Ottoman (or poofe) purchased at Eumundi Markets in Oct 2000 on trip
Desk painstakingly hand finished by yours truly – damage by MrK
Box of Australian Army matches from my cadet days circa 1988
Marioni pewter hourglass desk accessory – don’t ask 😐
Marble bookends (acquired by returning 3 Pictionary wedding gifts)
Ridiculously expensive Samsung Syncmaster 930MP monitor/tax dodge
    Starfish specimen in a box
Assorted dictionaries and etymology related books
Glass mushrooms from Salamanca Markets in Hobart purchased 1994
Carved apple made from Banksia timber gift from Mum’s WA holiday
Shitty ADSL2 modem… God I miss my cable
    Decorative but useless lamp

So all up my desk isn’t too untidy… there’s some old business cards, some Swarovski crystal stars bought from the Crystal Castle coming back from the Old Church, my mum’s old recipe books, an overdue phone bill, a blue tooth dongle, a Waterman pen bought on impusle in Canberra Nov 2005, a rock picked up on the Gallipoli Penninsula and some CDs.

I know there’s a saying about a messy desk being a sign of a creative mind… but what does it say if your desk is one where everything has it’s place?
