I stumbled over a webpage a couple of years ago that some guy – Fuzzy Squid- had set up full of random images. It’s basically a small program that runs off Live Journal uploads – everytime someone uploads an image to their Live Journal it is publically accessible via this feed. So it basically shows the last 50 random images uploaded to LJ. And it does this all day.
Given how many Live Journal acccounts there are around the world, you can refresh this page about every 15 seconds or so and get a lucky dip of 50 new images. It’s really quite entertaining (or at least it was before the Russians bought LJ – at that point the Fuzzy Squid feed was spewing out a marked increase in pornographic imagery). I’ don’t know who the Fuzzy Squid guy is that wrote the script the webpage runs off ans I’ve never really thought about him at all… … but recently the Fuzzy Squid LJ picture feed broke 🙁
So I sent the Fuzzy Squid guy a letter… addressed as follows –
Dear Mr Fuzzy Squid
The live journal image feed that you so had kindly provided for the edification of all mankind appears to be broken.
Me and all my friends are extremely distressed…. our lives are in pieces… we feel shattered and bereft of any direction or purpose
Given that the only impetus for our requiring access to the internets has now failed us, I foresee we will likely have to part ways with our ISP and resort to having to go eat worms.
Please, oh beneficent one! Please restore our FuzzySquid Live Journal picture feed for I fear for our safety and collective sanity should our random images not be returned to us.
