I had a fleeting moment of idiocy this morning when I decided to contact some tree loppers to get some quotes to fell a tree in our front yard. You see I have one of dem t’ings… a husband… but he kinda gets dizzy whenever his head is more than 6 feet off the ground which means he hates cleaning gutters let alone getting up a tree and pruning, trimming or cutting the bastard things down…. I miss my Dad.
I called half a dozen tree loppers in the hope that one would show up and I’m quite surprised that a few of them showed. I’ve had trouble getting landscapers and builders to come quote in the past. Guess how much to chop down and remove a six metre Brush Box???
Well.. First time.. lots of jiz….. Second time… not so much jiz…. Third time.. hardly any jiz at all!
(If you haven’t seen Magicians btw it’s well worth the effort). Ok. What? Tree quotes. Yes.
First quote – $1200
Second quote – $1144
Third quote – $ 1177
Fourth quote – $ 990 (kinda crap that this is sounding cheap)
Fifth quote – $1500
So I think we’re in the wrong business. Every single one of these guys said it would only take about 3-4 hours. So if a coupla guys with a truck and decent insurance can make up to $500/hour… makes you wonder.
